Our story

Our Roots: A Legacy Since 1816
In 1816, Robert Love traveled from Ireland as one of the first settlers of Saxonburg, Pennsylvania, laying the foundation for what would become Armstrong Farms. He left behind his wife, Nancy Hutchinson Love, and their young daughter, Sarah Love, who would make the journey to join him a few years later. Together, the family built a life centered around the land. Sarah would eventually marry William Armstrong, giving the farm its name. The original farmhouse on Route 228, now over 200 years old, still stands as a testament to those early days. Over seven generations, the farm has evolved, with each generation building on the foundation of the last. Today, Jay, Ben and Henry Allen proudly carry the torch as the seventh generation of our family to live and work on the family farm.

Modern Excellence: Raising the Standard
The transformation of Armstrong Farms began in the sixties with John Allen Jr. and his wife, Kathy Allen, who turned our family farm into a large-scale cattle operation, all while still keeping the same morals and values that were established by previous generations. Their son, John Allen III, took it even further, perfecting the herd and setting a new standard for quality cattle. Today, John Allen IV (Jay) is taking the operation to the next level with Armstrong Farms Beef. A business that sells consistent, high quality, locally raised beef straight to the consumer. Armstrong Farms has mastered the production of premium farm-raised beef. Our passion for excellence extends beyond the farm to the show ring. We compete at the highest level, exhibiting our cattle at all the major national shows. Armstrong Farms has been crowned National Champions multiple times, a testament to the superior genetics and care we dedicate to our herd. The same attention to detail and commitment to quality that wins in the show ring is what makes our beef exceptional. Every step, from breeding to finishing, is done with care, ensuring our beef meets the highest standards.

Pasture to Plate: Premium Beef You CAN Taste
That championship-level standard doesn’t stop at the show ring, it carries all the way to your plate. At Armstrong Farms, we use advanced DNA testing and performance data to identify cattle with superior marbling, larger ribeye area, and proven tenderness. By selecting genetics that consistently grade high and deliver exceptional eating quality, we remove the guesswork and ensure every animal meets our strict standards. Marbling is what creates that rich, buttery flavor. Ribeye size contributes to impressive cutability and presentation. Tenderness keeps customers coming back. We focus on all three — because great beef isn’t an accident. It’s intentional. From carefully planned breeding decisions to precise feeding programs and responsible finishing practices, every step is designed to produce a consistent, premium product you can rely on every single time you cook it. Whether it’s a steak for a special occasion or ground beef for a weeknight dinner, you’ll taste the difference in flavor, juiciness, and quality.

We take immense pride in our farm, our cattle, and the beef we bring to market. When you purchase Armstrong Farms Beef, you’re not just buying meat — you’re supporting seven generations of dedication, integrity, and a relentless commitment to excellence.
